Objective: The modified Fontan operation, a palliative approach for single ventricular circulation patients, often incorporates a fenestration to facilitate postoperative management. Postoperative fenestration closure is sometimes performed to mitigate potential risks such as low oxygen saturation. However, the benefits and potential risks of this procedure remain under investigation.

Employers at an electronics waste and lamp recycling facility in Ohio that crushes mercury-containing lamps expressed concerns about mercury exposure from work processes and requested a health hazard evaluation by CDC's National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). In April 2023, NIOSH conducted a multidisciplinary investigation to assess elemental and inorganic mercury exposures, including epidemiologic, environmental, and ventilation assessments.

We utilized docking algorithms to evaluate the interactions of these GL derivatives with key residues (His51, Asp75, Ser135, and Gly153) within 10 Å of the DENV-2 NS2B-NS3 protease binding pocket (PDB ID: 2FOM). It was found that compounds and exhibited unique binding patterns, forming hydrogen bonds with Asp75, Tyr150, and Gly153.

Romosozumab, a monoclonal antibody that targets sclerostin, is effective in increasing bone mineral density (BMD) and reducing fracture risk. However, evidence suggests that sclerostin inhibition may adversely affect vascular calcification, potentially increasing the risk of myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAssessing the long-term efficacy of MPXV vaccine candidates is crucial for the global response to the ongoing mpox epidemic. Built upon our previous study of the mpox quadrivalent mRNA vaccine, herein we reported that MPXV-1103 could elicit sustained humoral and cellular immunity in mice, including the induction of MPXV A35/B6/A29/M1-specific IgG antibodies, VACV neutralizing antibodies and activated cytotoxic CD8T cells, which provides 100% protection against lethal VACV challenge even at 280 days after the first vaccination. Our results provide critical insights for orthopoxvirus vaccine development.
