How and why do health system factors influence general dentists' participation in publicly funded, contracted primary dental care services: A realist review.

Objectives: To identify health system contexts and mechanisms influencing general dental practitioners' (GDPs) participation in state funded, contracted primary oral healthcare.

Methods: Peer-reviewed articles and other sources were identified via EMBASE, Medline (OVID), Web of Science and Google Scholar databases, grey literature search, citation tracking and expert recommendations. Studies meeting the inclusion criteria were assessed for rigour, relevance and richness, and coded to identify data relating to contexts, mechanisms and outcomes.

Changes in stress-related outcomes among graduate students following the Mindfulness Ambassador Program: A pilot study.

Objectives: Graduate students face numerous demands, high stress levels, and associated challenges to intra- and inter-personal relationships. Mindfulness may help to ease such challenging experiences. The Mindfulness Ambassador Program (MAP) is a promising group-based program that has not yet been studied among graduate students.

Pancreatic expression of CPT1A is essential for whole body glucose homeostasis by supporting glucose-stimulated insulin secretion.

Pancreatic islet β-cells express the Cpt1a gene, which encodes the enzyme carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1A (CPT1A), an enzyme that facilitates entry of long chain fatty acids into the mitochondria. Because fatty acids are required for glucose-stimulated insulin secretion, we tested the hypothesis that CPT1A is essential to support islet β-cell function and mass. In this study, we describe genetic deletion of Cpt1a in pancreatic tissue (Cpt1a) using C57BL/6J mice.

A New Way Forward for Women's Health Research at the National Institutes of Health: A Roadmap From the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's Consensus Report.

Despite efforts to address inequities, research on women's health conditions (defined as those that uniquely or differently affect women and female individuals) remain significantly understudied. As directed by Congress, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Research on Women's Health requested the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (National Academies) to conduct an assessment of the state of women's health research at the NIH. The findings of the National Academies committee include: 1) a significant funding inequity, with less than 8% of the total NIH grant budget for fiscal year 2023 allocated to women's health research; 2) a need for improved strategic NIH-wide priority setting, oversight, and adherence to existing policies to support women's health research; 3) a need for a specific institute for research on conditions specific to women's health; and 4) a need for sufficient training and additional funding to grow and retain the women's health research workforce.

Student-Led Falls Prevention Program for Community-Dwelling Older Adults in a Rural Community: A Pilot Study.

Introduction: A third of community-dwelling adults over the age of 65 years fall each year, making falls a significant concern for the elderly. Older people living in community-dwellings account for 73% of fall-related hospitalisations in older populations. Little is known about identifying, reaching at-risk people, and delivering these interventions in rural communities.
