Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the challenges of achieving effective blinding in clinical trials using transcranial direct current stimulation, particularly focusing on children and young adults.
  • Researchers aimed to compare blinding success between these two groups and evaluate a new ActiSham protocol against traditional sham methods.
  • Results showed that while both groups recognized active stimulation, children were less accurate in identifying sham conditions and exhibited higher confidence in their responses, highlighting the need for better blinding techniques in trials involving children.

Two-thirds of all glaciers worldwide are projected to disappear by 2100 CE. Large uncertainties however remain in maritime settings, where some glaciers have recently gained mass in response to increased snowfall. Objective Activation of emergency medical services (EMS) through radio dispatching in the United States of America is the established first component in the link of the Chain of Survival. However, little is known about how auditory dispatch alerts operationally aid in the recognition and physical response of priority dispatch communications. This research aims to determine if a modification in radio alerting procedures will elicit a reduction in chute times for first responders.

Fragile X syndrome (FXS) is an X-linked neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by several behavioral abnormalities, including hyperactivity, anxiety, sensory hyper-responsiveness, and autistic-like symptoms such as social deficits. Despite considerable efforts, effective pharmacological treatments are still lacking, prompting the need for exploring the therapeutic value of existing drugs beyond their original approved use. One such repurposed drug is chlorzoxazone which is classified as a large-conductance calcium-dependent potassium (BKCa) channel opener.
