Purpose: The thyroid gland is one of the most vital endocrine organs. It is responsible for the synthesis and secretion of hormones principally triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). These hormones play a significant role in the functions and the metabolism of the body.

Multidisciplinary Amputation Prevention at the DeBakey VA Hospital: Our First Decade.

Background: In 2011, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) undertook multidisciplinary efforts to improve care for patients with nonhealing foot ulcers and reduce leg amputation rates. This article examines the impact of interdisciplinary care for amputation prevention in the VHA.

Methods: The VHA patient population was characterized using internal registries.

Antibacterial activity of selenium nanoparticles/copper oxide (SeNPs/CuO) nanocomposite against some multi-drug resistant clinical pathogens.

Background: Recent advances in nanomedicine have derived novel prospects for development of various bioactive nanoparticles and nanocomposites with significant antibacterial and antifungal properties. This study aims to investigate some characteristics of the novel Se-NPs/CuO nanocomposite such as morphological, physicochemical, and optical properties, as well as to assess the antibacterial activity of this fabricated composite in different concentrations against some MDR Gram-positive and Gram-negative clinical bacterial isolates.

Methods: The Se-NPs/CuO nanocomposite was fabricated using the chemical deposition method.

Moderating effect of attachment to parents on the association between bullying and self-esteem among early adolescents aged 10 to 12.

The aim of this study was to examine whether attachment to each parent moderates the relationship between bullying victimisation and self-esteem. The sample consisted of 250 junior high school students (114 males, 136 females; mean age: 11.3 years).
