Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune systemic disease with many organ involvements with high morbidity and mortality percentage. It's unusual for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) to present with diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH) as the earliest presentation. Diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH) refers to the effusion of blood into the alveoli due to damaged pulmonary microvasculature.

The Use of Telemedicine in Surgical Care: a Systematic Review.

Introduction: Telemedicine describes a healthcare service where physicians communicate with patients remotely using telecommunication technologies. Telemedicine is being used to provide pre-/postoperative surgical consultation and monitoring as well as surgical education.

Aim: Our purpose was to investigate the broad range of telemedicine technologies used in surgical care.

Outcome of temporary silicone oil tamponade in complex rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.

Purpose: To evaluate the anatomic and visual outcomes and complications of temporary silicone oil (SO) retinal tamponade in patients with complex rhegmatogenous retinal detachments (RD).

Methods: The retrospective study included 100 eyes of 93 consecutive patients. Indications for the use of SO were proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) (30 eyes), difficult RD (30 eyes), giant retinal tears (17 eyes), RD after penetrating trauma (14 eyes), and macular holes in highly myopic eyes (9 eyes).
