Background And Aim: Many environmental factors exist that influence embryonic development which is missing in the poultry industry, such as light in incubation facilities or hatcheries. Light plays an important role in the growth and development of chick embryos, whereas dark environments can lead to hatching failure or embryo distortion. Therefore, this study aimed to demonstrate the importance of light and its various colors on the growth and development of broiler chick embryos.

Background: Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a monogenic, phenotypically highly variable disease with multisystem pathology. The phenotypic heterogeneity of SCD is attributed to environmental and genetic factors such as fetal hemoglobin and co-inheritance of α-thalassemia.

Objectives: To look for different types of α-thalassemia gene mutations among SCD patients and evaluate the influence of the co-inheritance of α-thalassemia on clinical and hematological variables.

Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty is a generally safe and widely accepted surgical procedure for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. Unfortunately, uvulopalatopharyngoplasty does not always result in success, and patients who initially experienced improvement in the severity of their obstructive sleep apnea may relapse. Proper patient selection and performing uvulopalatopharyngoplasty in conjunction with other surgical procedures that are directed at other sites of upper airway collapsibility may yield favorable outcomes.
