  • This study aimed to update the Finnish smoke-diving drill (FSDD) while assessing the physical strain and recovery of firefighters during the drill.
  • It compared the physical strain between contract and professional firefighters and investigated how different floor materials affected performance.
  • Results showed that contract firefighters experienced higher physical strain, struggled with recovery from exertion, and had increased lactate levels on rough surfaces, while better aerobic capacity led to less strain overall.

: The potential benefits of workplace physical activity (PA) interventions are in improving both health and important workplace outcomes. Despite the differences in PA level between physically strenuous and inactive work, the literature reporting the effectiveness of the interventions does not usually differentiate physically active and inactive jobs. The aim of the current study was therefore to collect and synthesise research evidence on workplace PA interventions to promote work ability specifically among workers in physically strenuous jobs by means of a scoping review.

Urotensin-II (UT-II) and its receptor (UTR) are involved in the occurrence of different epithelial cancers. In particular, UTR was found overexpressed on colon, bladder, and prostate cancer cells. The conjugation of ligands, able to specifically bind receptors that are overexpressed on cancer cells, to liposome surface represents an efficient active targeting strategy to enhance selectivity and efficiency of drug delivery systems.
