Heme and non-heme Fe-NO complexes were observed in regard to the growth of primary and secondary solid tumors and ascites of murine L5178Y lymphoma. The complexes were detected by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy at liquid nitrogen temperature. Primary solid tumors and secondary solid tumors or ascites were inoculated on the same day, or with a delay.

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) collected from neurological patients was examined for NO content using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. In adult patients with meningitis, the level of NO was higher than that in other groups of brain disorders, such as brain traumas and brain tumors.

Two Bomirski hamster melanomas (BHMs), differing in their melanin content, were compared with regard to their radiosensitivity to ruthenium-106 (106Ru) radiation. Tumours growing in the iris were irradiated with 3, 6 or 10 Gy of 106Ru given as a single dose or in four fractions at 24 h Intervals.

These tumors were derived from the cutaneous melanotic melanoma that arose in 1 of 44 gerbils injected postnatally with N-ethyl-N-nitrosourea. It consists of a slow growing heavily melanotic parental line and two fast growing melanotic (FGM) and amelanotic (A-FGM) lines that appeared abruptly during serial transplantation of the parental tumor.

Material And Methods: The experiments were carried out using pigmented and non-pigmented lines of the tumor. Attempted injections of suspension of malignant melanoma cells in physiological salt solution to the anterior chamber with an infusion pump did not give the expected results.
