An array of quartz crystals coated with different room-temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) is proposed for the analysis of flavors by quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) measurements. Seven RTILs were adopted as sensing layers, all containing imidazolium or phosphonium cations, differing from one another in the length and branching of alkyl groups and neutralized by different anions. The array was at first applied to the analysis of 31 volatile organic compounds (VOCs), such as alcohols, phenols, aldehydes, esters, ketones, acids, amines, hydrocarbons and terpenes, chosen as representative components of a wide variety of food flavors.

The health care records have been selected on the basis of the database of alert microorganisms in a teaching Hospital of North-Eastern of Italy, for the years 2005-2006-2007 in three wards (Hematology, ICU and Surgical ward). In 80/107 (74.

Crayfish were collected at the reference site (River Mrežnica) and exposed in cages for 1 week at three polluted sites along the Sava River (Zagreb, Sisak, Krapje). The long term pollution status of these locations was confirmed by chemical analyses of sediments.

The aim of this research was to investigate influence of different environmental stressors, such as temperature increase, air exposure and food deprivation on DNA integrity of a bioindicator species, freshwater crayfish Astacus leptodactylus. DNA damage was measured in crayfish haemocytes using Comet assay and micronucleus test. Crayfish haemolymph was subsequentially sampled during their 7 days of exposure to increased temperatures (25 and 30 degrees C) and during 24 h of air exposure.
