Introduction: Geriatric hip fractures are associated with high rates of disability and mortality. Many of these patients require perioperative and postoperative allogeneic blood transfusions, which carry several noteworthy risks. A growing body of literature supports the efficacy of tranexamic acid (TXA) in geriatric hip fractures, without sufficient data examining which subgroups are likely to benefit the most.

Participant perspectives on management and communication of incidental findings identified on radiographic imaging performed during a clinical research trial: A single site pilot study.

Background: Incidental findings (IFs) in radiographic imaging are unexpected discoveries unrelated to the purpose of the scan. While the protocol for communicating IFs is better defined for clinical providers, little formal guidance on communicating IFs identified on research scans to participants is available. This study explored participants' experience with communication and management of IFs found on imaging identified in a clinical research trial.

An Effective Academic Medical Center-Based Strategy to Enhance Diversity Among Nurse Researchers.

The Connell-Jones Endowed Chair Diversity Nursing Research Scholars Program was created to promote engagement in nursing research and scholarship among nurses of color. Preliminary evaluation suggests that the program was widely beneficial, resulting in enrollment in doctoral education for some. Establishing opportunities that promote exposure and participation in nursing research and scholarship among nurses of color helps cultivate cohorts of diverse nurses armed to address health disparities through the advancement of nursing knowledge.

Intratumoral histological and molecular heterogeneity in an adult diffuse glioma.

Adult-type diffuse gliomas are the most prevalent type of malignant adult brain tumors. Intratumoral heterogeneity can hinder accurate diagnosis and subsequent treatment. This case report documents a tumor with intratumoral heterogeneity, both histologically and by methylation analysis, located within the left cerebral hemisphere of a 29-year-old female.
