[Acute myocardial infarction with neurological symptoms: clinical and pathologic aspects].

A variety neurological symptoms can be the onset of an acute myocardial infarction. The study includes 96 patients who have undergone necropsies (from 1978 to 2003), hospitalized at the "Sfânta Treime" University Hospital, Iaşi, in the Neurology Clinic. They were admitted for various neurological manifestations: hemiparesis, hemiplegia, aphasia, coma of the 1st degree up to the 4th.

[The evolution of the incidence of glial brain tumors in Moldova in 1981-1991: the effect of excessive accidental hyper-radioactivity].

The authors discussed the effects of nuclear accident from Chernobyl (1986) upon the histotypes of cerebral glial tumors, first diagnosed during 1981-1991 at the Department of Pathology, Neurosurgical Hospital, Iaşi. It's microscopic diagnosis was determined according to the World Health Organization criterion (1979). The investigations established a tendency to diminish the incidence of astrocytomas and to increase the oligo-astrocytic tumors number, after 1986.

Lumbar spinal stenosis by postdiscectomy hyperostosis.

The mesenchymal repair process of the connective tissue in the surgical wound following lumbar laminectomy presents three aspects: postoperative epidural scar, heterotopic bone formation in the epidural scar and vertebral hyperostosis around laminectomy. Twelve cases of lumbar spine hyperostosis consecutive to laminectomy, confirmed by x-ray findings and surgery are presented. The main symptom at presentation was a recurrent sciatic neuritis.

[A brain abscess of mycotic origin due to Histoplasma capsulatum].

The case here presented is one of the histoplasmosis cases occurring sporadically in Romania. It is the first case with cerebral site and with the aspect of an extensive intracranial process. The diagnosis was made by a careful microscopic examination of the intraoperative specimens.
