Introduction: The aim of this retrospective study was to analyse clinical and radiological outcome after medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction (MPFLR) and tibial tuberosity medialisation (TTM) in patients with recurrent patellar instability.

Materials And Methods: Thirty-five patients were included between 2008 and 2012. According to defined criteria such as tibial tuberosity-trochlear groove (TTTG) distance, hyperpression on the lateral patella facet and lateral retropatellar cartilage damage either MPFLR (group A) or TTM (group B) was performed: 18 patients underwent TTM, the other 17 patients underwent MPFLR.

Background: Testing for beta cell autoantibodies is used for wide-scale identification of early stages of type 1 diabetes. This requires suitable screening assays. We aimed to establish screening that utilized a first step assay (3 Screen) able to detect autoantibodies to the target antigens glutamic acid decarboxylase-65 (GAD), insulinoma-associated antigen 2 (IA-2), and zinc transporter 8 (ZnT8) to identify children positive for multiple beta cell autoantibodies.

Introduction: Type 1 diabetes can be diagnosed at an early presymptomatic stage by the detection of islet autoantibodies. The Fr1da study aims to assess whether early staging of type 1 diabetes (1) is feasible at a population-based level, (2) prevents severe metabolic decompensation observed at the clinical manifestation of type 1 diabetes and (3) reduces psychological distress through preventive teaching and care.

Methods And Analysis: Children aged 2-5 years in Bavaria, Germany, will be tested for the presence of multiple islet autoantibodies.

Background And Purpose: The study was designed to assess the incidence of coexistent abdominal aortic disease in patients with known carotid artery stenosis.

Methods: Abdominal ultrasound and physical examination of the abdomen were performed in 89 consecutive patients referred to this tertiary medical center for evaluation of both symptomatic and asymptomatic carotid artery disease. The frequency of abdominal aortic aneurysm detected in this population was compared with that incidentally found in age- and sex-matched patients undergoing abdominal ultrasound for nonvascular reasons.
