Article Synopsis
  • A recent study explored the effectiveness of ChatGPT-4 as a decision-making tool for treating head and neck cancers by comparing its treatment recommendations to those from expert oncology meetings and established guidelines.
  • The study analyzed the recommendations for 263 patients with squamous cell carcinoma over a five-year period, finding that ChatGPT-4 had moderate to substantial agreement with expert decisions and National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines.
  • Results suggest that while ChatGPT-4 shows promise in supporting clinical decisions, further improvements are needed for it to better address complex patient conditions and enhance its reliability in medical practice.

Introduction: The BAHA (bone-anchored hearing aid) Attract is a magnetic transcutaneous bone conduction device anchored into the temporal bone. The standard surgical technique for BAHA Attract is a multi-tools time-consuming process, which requires a large cutaneous incision. The objective of this study is to describe and test the feasibility of a minimally invasive pocket (MIP) technique for Magnet Bone Implant Hearing Aid (MBIHA) with a modified magnet of BAHA Attract without fixation and without any tissue reduction.

In some languages (such as Dutch), speakers produce duration differences between vowels, but it is unclear whether they also encode short versus long speech sounds into different phonological categories. To examine whether they have abstract representations for 'short' versus 'long' contrasts, we assessed Dutch listeners' perceptual sensitivity to duration in two vowel qualities: [a] and [ɑ], as in the words maan 'moon' and man 'man,' which are realized with long and short duration respectively. If Dutch represents this phonetic durational difference as a 'short'-'long' contrast in its phonology, duration changes in [a] and [ɑ] should elicit similar neural responses [specifically, the mismatch negativity (MMN)].
