The crystal structures of the murine monoclonal IgG2b(kappa) antibody NC6.8 Fab fragment complexed with high-potency sweetener compound SC45647 and nontasting high-affinity antagonist TES have been determined. The crystal structures show how sweetener potency is fine-tuned by multiple interactions between specific receptor residues and the functionally different groups of the sweeteners.

The three-dimensional structure of the complex shows the close proximity of complementary charged residues on the antibody and groups of the hapten.

Following 24 h treatment with interferon (IFN)-gamma, MHC Class II was induced on CVE derived from susceptible but not resistant strains of mice. However, IFN-gamma induced the expression of MHC Class II on late passages of BALB/c CVE.
