Aim: There is no consensus on prescription of medicines in many situations in general medicine. The aim of this study was to identify the strategies used by general practitioners to limit prescriptions in order to make their prescriptions more effective.

Methods: A mixed sample of general practitioners in terms of age and types of practice were interviewed using the focus group method until a sufficient number of data were obtained.

The assessment of new anticoagulants benefits is based on the assessment of thromboembolism and bleeding risks, referring when possible to CHA2DS2-VASc and HAS-BLED scores. The management of patients treated with new anticoagulants includes a clinical assessment and the annual measure of the creatinine clearance (three times per year in some particular cases). New anticoagulants make hemostasis tests not reliable.

Background: Despite advances in cancer therapy, mortality is still high except in early-stage tumors, and screening remains a challenge. The randomized National Lung Screening Trial (NLST), comparing annual low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) and chest X-rays, revealed a 20% decrease in lung-cancer-specific mortality.
