In the scenario of metal toxicity, aluminum (Al) stands out as a ubiquitous type of metal that can be combined with other elements and form different compounds. Al is widely used daily as an adjuvant in vaccines, antacids, food additives (as components of AI-containing food additives), skin care products, cosmetics, and kitchenware, and can be an element or contaminant present in our daily life. Objectives: To investigate the association between socioeconomic and nutritional factors with respiratory morbidity in the first year of life in different regions of Brazil.
Methodology: A nested case-control study within a randomized field trial was conducted in three capital cities (Porto Alegre, Manaus, and Salvador), representing different macro-regions of the country. Cases were defined as children with a reported previous diagnosis of asthma, bronchiolitis, or pneumonia.
Background: Paralytic lagophthalmos can have devastating consequences for vision if left untreated. Several surgical techniques have been described, including the utilization of alloplastic and autologous materials.
Objectives: The authors sought to evaluate the effectiveness of the surgical treatment of paralytic lagophthalmos with combined techniques employing autologous material and involving the upper and lower eyelids.
Background: Sphenoid wing meningiomas present close contact with intracranial arteries and have great potential for vascular complications. Here, we describe the case of a patient who presented a medial left giant lesser sphenoid wing meningioma involving the supraclinoid carotid artery. One week after surgery, she developed vasospasm whose treatment using milrinone achieved excellent results.

Objectives: The authors describe the safety and efficacy of intralesional tetracycline injection, the pinch technique, and canthopexy for the treatment of severe festoons.
Methods: Institutional board review approval was obtained, and a retrospective chart review was performed on 15 consecutive patients who had received 2% tetracycline injections to treat lower eyelid large festoons between February 2017 and February 2020.
