Background: We investigated the relationship between neighbourhood income quintile and mental health service use by immigration experience among youth and explored changes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Method: We used administrative data to examine mental health service use among youth aged 10 to 24 in British Columbia, Canada, between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2022. We compared rates of community-based mental health service use, emergency department visits, and hospitalizations and the proportion of involuntary admissions by neighbourhood income quintile and immigration.

Article Synopsis
  • - Duodenal-type follicular lymphoma is a rare variant of follicular lymphoma that generally has a good prognosis and can be asymptomatic or present with vague gastrointestinal symptoms.
  • - Diagnosis often happens incidentally during an endoscopic procedure (EGD) when biopsies of duodenal polyps are taken.
  • - A unique case of biopsy-confirmed duodenal-type B cell follicular lymphoma was treated with localized radiotherapy, resulting in complete remission after six months; physicians need to be aware of this rare condition and the possibility of systemic B-cell lymphoma involvement.

Article Synopsis
  • A study investigates whether marine herbivores are better off as generalists or specialists when faced with rapid environmental changes like ocean warming and acidification.
  • The research shows that generalists tend to narrow their dietary range while specialists expand theirs in response to changing food resources, leading to greater overlap in their niches.
  • Despite having the ability to adapt, both types face risks with climate change, particularly specialists, whose biomass risks collapsing even when conditions seem favorable.

Ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) is a nature-based technology for CO removal and storage, but little is known about its environmental safety. We tested a CO-equilibrated OAE deployment in a close-to-natural community using in situ mesocosms in the oligotrophic subtropical North Atlantic and assessed metazoan zooplankton to inform about food web stability, structure, and production. In addition, a literature review complemented experimental results by summarizing physiological responses of marine animals to decreasing proton concentrations, or increased pH.

Objectives: To measure recent social cohesion (resource sharing, trust and support) and its association with (1) sexual/physical violence, and (2) engagement with sex work-specific services among women sex workers in Metro Vancouver, Canada.

Methods: Prospective data (January 2010-August 2022) were drawn from an open cohort of 900+ women sex workers. We developed multivariable logistic regression confounder models with generalized estimating equations (GEE) to examine associations between social cohesion and recent (1) physical/sexual violence and (2) engagement with sex work-specific services.
