: Paravalvular leak and permanent pacemaker implantation remain relevant issues after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). Novel device development as well as adequate preprocedural device selection can contribute to optimal outcomes. : Computed tomography-based patient-specific computer anatomical analysis and simulation were used in addition to standard preprocedural preparation in three of the first Evolut FX cases in our center.

This study aimed to compare the clinical outcomes of mechanical and biological valve prostheses in patients with infective endocarditis presenting with stroke. Ninety-five adults with infective endocarditis complicated by stroke at baseline who underwent aortic and/or mitral valve replacement were analyzed retrospectively. The primary outcome was a composite outcome of all-cause mortality, ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, and re-endocarditis.

Article Synopsis
  • * A study involving 68 CRC patients found that TERRA expression is correlated with certain gene expressions related to cell proliferation and cancer progression, indicating its relationship with patient outcomes.
  • * The research suggests that high TERRA levels may lead to better survival rates in CRC patients and demonstrates that TERRA can inhibit tumor growth in SCID mice, highlighting its therapeutic potential.

(1) Mitral regurgitation is a common valve disease requiring surgical repair. Even with satisfactory results, repair techniques may underlie subjectivity and variability and require long learning curves. A novel approach, the "Roman Arch" technique, may ease the technical burden.

Tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is a prevalent finding in echocardiography and in case of severe disease is associated with impaired patient outcome. Clover repair offers a surgical solution that can be applied for the treatment of primary and secondary TR. An ex vivo passive beating porcine heart model was created to test a modified clover technique using automated suturing devices and to compare this approach to standard ring annuloplasty.
