Objective: Histologically evaluate damage to rabbit femur after the creation of bicortical 1.5-mm-diameter holes using a standard surgical drill bit, an acrylic drill bit, and a Kirschner wire (K-wire).
Methods: 10 femora (5 pairs) from skeletally mature female intact New Zealand white rabbits were used.
Background: Chondrodysplasia punctata 1 (CDPX1) is an X-linked recessive disorder of cartilage and bone development characterized by stippling on the cartilage and bone, flattened nasal bridge, and brachydactyly, or short fingers. CDPX1 has been associated with variants in the ARSL gene and is known to manifest prenatally, however, there has been no systematic literature review on this evidence.
Aims: Here, we reviewed the current literature on prenatal manifestations of CDPX1, and additionally introduce previously unpublished cases.
Determining the risk of pathologic fracture in dogs with a primary bone tumor would aid in case selection for in-situ treatment options. Prior research found strong relationships between in vitro strength of canine antebrachii with primary bone tumors and CT-derived metrics. This study assesses the prognosis for pathologic fracture in dogs with distal radial bone tumors using CT-derived structural analysis metrics.
