Oral N-acetylcysteine (NAC) has shown efficacy for debilitating habit-driven and neuropsychiatric disorders in small, mostly adult studies. We retrospectively evaluated the therapeutic use and safety of oral NAC in 93 children from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. This study supports the use of oral NAC for habit-driven skin, hair, and nail abnormalities in pediatric patients.

is a serious health threat because of the rapid progressive evolution of antimicrobial resistance and efficient transmission from zoonotic as well as human sources. Resistance to fluoroquinolones and macrolides is particularly concerning as this compromises the two most effective oral antibiotic agents currently available for human campylobacteriosis. Here, we report on the prevalence and worldwide distribution of the operon , which encodes an efflux pump conferring high levels of combined resistance to fluoroquinolones and macrolides in strains isolated from poultry ( = 75) and children ( = 177).

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to evaluate Verb Network Strengthening Treatment (VNeST) paired with the transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) of the left inferior frontal gyrus, which was compared to VNeST paired with a sham stimulation in primary progressive aphasia (PPA).

Method: A double-blind, within-subject, sham-controlled crossover design was used. Eight participants with PPA were enrolled.
