Risk stratification tools for the prediction of complications in patients with upper gastrointestinal haemorrhage are crucial for appropriate management. Blood group status has been associated with the risk of bleeding, thrombosis and risk of peptic ulcer disease (PUD). We assessed the influence of blood group status on rebleeding and other complications in 699 patients with PUD bleeding.

Although mRNA, viral-vectored, DNA, and recombinant protein vaccine candidates were effective against the SARS-CoV-2 Wuhan strain, the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern (VOCs) reduced the protective efficacies of these vaccines. This necessitates the need for effective and accelerated vaccine development against mutated VOCs.

A Mongolian-Canadian collaboration was inaugurated to support the development of a self-sustainable, self-governed minimally invasive thoracic surgery (MITS) program in Mongolia.
Methods: A multidisciplinary Canadian thoracic surgery team collaborated with the National Cancer Center of Mongolia Thoracic Surgery service from 2016 to 2023.
Understanding the structure-property relationship and the way in which catalysts facilitate polysulfide conversion is crucial for the rational design of lithium-sulfur (Li-S) battery catalysts. Herein, a series of NiAlO, CoAlO, and CuAlO spinel oxides with varying Ni, Co, or Cu tetrahedral and octahedral site occupancy are studied as Li-S battery catalysts. Combined with experimental and theoretical analysis, the tetrahedral site is identified as the most active site for enhancing polysulfide adsorption and charge transfer.
