Preliminary examination of orexin receptor antagonism with suvorexant in individuals with Methamphetamine use disorder: a case series study.

No FDA-approved medications for methamphetamine (MA) use disorder (MUD) are available. Suvorexant (SUVO), a dual orexin receptor antagonist that is FDA approved for insomnia treatment, reduces MA self-administration and MA-induced reinstatement responding in preclinical studies. SUVO may also reduce MA use by targeting substance use risk factors, including insomnia, stress, cue reactivity, and craving.

Comparison of Emergency Department Disposition Times in Adult Level I and Level II Trauma Centers.

Introduction: The efficient utilization of resources is a crucial aspect of healthcare, particularly in both Level I and Level II American College of Surgeons (ACS)-verified trauma centers. The effect of resource allocation on emergency department length of stay (ED-LOS) of trauma patients has remained under-investigated. As ED crowding has become more prevalent, especially at quaternary care centers, an evaluation of the potential disparities in ED-LOS between Level I and Level II trauma centers is warranted.

The competing controls of glaciers, precipitation, and vegetation on high-mountain fluvial sediment yields.

Investigating erosion and river sediment yield in high-mountain areas is crucial for understanding landscape and biogeochemical responses to environmental change. We compile data on contemporary fluvial suspended sediment yield (SSY) and 12 environmental proxies from 151 rivers in High Mountain Asia surrounding the Tibetan Plateau. We demonstrate that glaciers exert a first-order control on fluvial SSYs, with high precipitation nonlinearly amplifying their role, especially in high-glacier cover basins.

'Blue-lighting' seizure-related needs in care homes: a retrospective analysis of ambulance call-outs for seizures in North West England (2014-2021), their management and costs, with community comparisons.

Objectives: With a projected rise in care home residency and the disproportionate impact of epilepsy and seizures on older adults, understanding seizure-related needs in this population is crucial. Data silos and inconsistent recording of residence status make this challenging. We thus leveraged ambulance data to investigate seizure call-out incidence, characteristics, management and costs in care homes compared with the wider community.
