Background: Initial ED assessment can use early warning scores to identify and prioritise patients who need time-critical treatment. We aimed to determine the accuracy of the National Early Warning Score version 2 (NEWS2) for predicting the need for time-critical treatment.

The global rise in life expectancy has increased the incidence of injuries among older adults, leading to a greater burden on healthcare systems.

Would Provision of Take Home Naloxone Kits by Emergency Medical Services be Perceived as Acceptable to People at Risk of Opioid Overdose? A Qualitative Study.

Objectives: Take home naloxone kits can reduce mortality, but we know little about how they are perceived by people with lived experience of opioid use. Provision of naloxone in the community has been shown to significantly reduce mortality from opioid overdose. Currently, this is predominantly through drug treatment support services but expanding provision through other services might be effective in increasing kit take-up and mortality reduction.

Variation in ambulance pre-alert process and practice: cross-sectional survey of ambulance clinicians.

Background: Ambulance clinicians use pre-alert calls to inform emergency departments (EDs) about the arrival of critically ill patients. However, there is variation in guidance between local ambulance service policies in terms of what should be pre-alerted and how pre-alerts should happen. We conducted a national online survey to understand the use of ambulance pre-alerts and to inform recommendations for practice and guidance.
