Here, we investigate PbSnS2, a wide band gap (1.13 eV) compound, as a promising thermoelectric material for power generation. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals its two-dimensional layered structure, akin to the GeSe structure type, with Pb and Sn atoms sharing the same crystallographic site.

Femtosecond pulses at 914 nm without mode-locking using Nd-doped fiber amplifiers.

We present a fiber laser system that generates femtosecond pulses at 914 nm from a continuous-wave solid-state laser source and using Nd-doped fiber amplifiers. This femtosecond laser architecture without mode-locking is based on picosecond pulse shaping by an electro-optic modulator followed by a Mamyshev regenerator to shorten the pulses down to 8 ps. Additional spectral broadening by self-phase modulation results in an output pulse spectrum of 10 nm, allowing the generation of nearly transform-limited 230 fs pulses.

Effects of Radiation Dose on Lubricants: A Review of Experimental Studies.

One of the key priorities in modern mechanical engineering is to ensure the safe, long-lasting operation of systems while maximizing energy efficiency and withstanding extreme and damaging conditions. This is especially relevant in environments subject to radiation, in which materials, depending on their chemical and elemental composition, exhibit specific limitations. In this review, we summarize the current state of the art in research and development regarding the performance of lubricants in radiation fields and the effectiveness of radiation-tolerant lubricated systems.

Health-Related Quality of Life in Long-Term Survivors of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma: A French Population-Based Study.

: Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) represents 63% of all hematological malignancies in France, with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and follicular lymphoma (FL) being the two most frequent forms. With the improvement of therapeutics, the issue of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is becoming increasingly crucial for these patients. The aim was to compare HRQoL of NHL survivors with that of the general French population and to identify factors associated with HRQoL in NHL survivors.
