Purpose: To report the case of a woman in her fifties whose presenting symptom of idiopathic intracranial hypertension was engorgement of the eyelid veins.

Observations: Bilateral engorged palpebral veins were visible through the skin. Dilated fundus examination revealed bilateral optic disc edema.

Health impacts of climate change in the UK: A qualitative synthesis detailing the conjuncture of social structure, extreme weather, and mental health.

This qualitative synthesis explores the experiences of UK communities facing growing health risks from climate change and extreme weather. The eight included studies show the profound impacts of extreme weather events such as floods on mental health, including challenges to self-identity and anxiety from the fear of flooding returning. Included data reveal individual and household impacts of extreme weather are mediated by a complex interaction of institutional support, community support, gender inequalities and personal agency.

Selective Recruitment of a Synthetic Histone Acetyltransferase Can Boost CHO Cell Productivity.

Industrial production of biologics typically involves the integration of transgenes into host cell genomes, most often Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells. Epigenetic control of transgene expression is a major determinant of production titers. Although the cytomegalovirus (CMV) promoter has long been used to drive industrial transgene expression, we found that its associated histones are suboptimally acetylated in CHO cells, providing an opportunity to enhance productivity through epigenetic manipulation.

Association between the COVID-19 pandemic and granuloma formation following lower blepharoplasty.

Purpose: We hypothesize that lower blepharoplasty post-operative granuloma formation increased during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Observations: Retrospective consecutive case series of first-time lower blepharoplasties performed at an academic private practice. Odds ratios of post-operative granuloma formation before and after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic were analyzed using a logistic regression model controlling for age, gender, and surgical approach.

Visual acuity and optic nerve size assessed by magnetic resonance imaging in optic nerve hypoplasia.

We investigated the relationship between optic nerve (ON) size and visual acuity in children with optic nerve hypoplasia (ONH). The medical records of patients <19 years with ONH who underwent brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and visual acuity assessment were reviewed. ON diameter at orbital and cisternal segments was assessed independently by two neuroradiologists and compared with visual acuity.
