Disorder is known to have a profound influence on classical phase transitions, and it is anticipated to be even more important for quantum phase transitions. However, experimental investigation of the influence of disorder on phase transitions normally requires numerous samples over the range of disorder. Here, we investigate the field-driven quantum phase transition in the antiferromagnet LiErF.

Resolution of refractory trigeminal neuralgia after endoscopic decompression of the foramina rotundum and ovale in a patient with bilateral petrous apex cephaloceles: illustrative case.

Background: Petrous apex cephaloceles (PACs) are rare cystic lesions that can present with increased intracranial pressure and bony remodeling of the skull. PACs may be associated with trigeminal neuralgia (TN); however, direct causality is not clear. To the author's knowledge, this is the first case reporting bony decompression of the foramina ovale and rotundum via an extended endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) for the management of TN in the presence of concurrent PACs.

Branched chain amino acid metabolism and microbiome in adolescents with obesity during weight loss therapy.

Background: Towards improving outcomes for adolescents with obesity, we aimed to define metabolic and microbiome phenotypes at baseline and post-weight loss intervention.

Methods: The Pediatric Obesity Microbiome and Metabolism Study enrolled 220 adolescents aged 10-18 with severe obesity (OB) and 67 healthy weight controls (HWC). Blood, stool, and clinical measures were collected at baseline and after a 6-month intervention for the OB group.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is linked to atherosclerosis plaque formation. In pro-inflammatory conditions, human Natural Killer (NK) cell frequencies in blood or plaque decrease; however, NK cells are underexplored in CAD pathogenesis, inflammatory mechanisms, and CAD comorbidities, such as human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection and diabetes. Analysis of PBMC CITE-seq data from sixty-one CAD patients revealed higher blood NK cell expression in CAD patients with higher stenosis severity.

Social Workers' Attitudes and Beliefs about MDMA-Assisted Therapy for Adolescents with PTSD.

Given the widespread interest and ongoing study on MDMA-assisted therapy (MDMA-AT) for PTSD, its implications for unique populations-such as adolescents-require further understanding. Social workers will likely play a crucial role in the potential implementation of this intervention, but their perspectives remain unknown. The study includes 222 social workers randomized to read one of two vignettes about MDMA-AT or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor-assisted therapy (SSRI-AT) for treating adolescent treatment-resistant PTSD.
