Burn injuries remain a major clinical problem worldwide, which require special management by experienced plastic surgeons. However, they cannot be available in every healthcare unit; consequently, there is a need for effective treatment options that could be utilized by a wide range of non-expert healthcare professionals. The aim of the present experimental study was to investigate the safety and efficacy of using a fibrin sealant (TISSEEL) compared to the conventional treatment with sulfadiazine on partial-thickness burn in a rat animal model.

A Systematic Review of Current Practices, Challenges, and Future Directions for the Use of Robotic Surgery in Otolaryngology in Greece.

Robotic surgery is increasingly used in otolaryngology (ENT), particularly for complex head and neck procedures. It offers various advantages, including limited postoperative pain, excellent aesthetic results, better visualization in the surgical field, enhanced dexterity due to movement adjustment by the robotic system, and minimal complications and hospital stay. However, robotic systems' higher cost and limited availability are a burden for clinical applications.

Background/aim: The global obesity epidemic has seen a dramatic increase in prevalence since 1975, posing significant health and economic challenges worldwide. Robotic-assisted single anastomosis duodenal-ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy (SADI-S) has emerged as a promising surgical intervention for morbid obesity, offering potential advantages over traditional laparoscopic approaches in terms of precision, safety, and recovery outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of robotic-assisted SADI-S, focusing on perioperative and postoperative outcomes including intraoperative complications, operative time, conversion rates, mortality, length of hospital stay, weight loss, and postoperative complications.

Spigelian hernias in the adult population: a systematic review of the literature.

Purpose: Spigelian Hernia (SH) is characterized by the protrusion of abdominal viscera or preperitoneal fat through a defect in the spigelian aponeurosis. The objective of this systematic review was to evaluate current literature on Spigelian Hernias in adult population and elucidate their characteristics and preferable management.

Methods: MEDLINE and Scopus bibliographical databases were systematically searched (last search: 31st January 2024) for studies concerning SHs.
