LSbCl2, an air- and moisture-stable antimony(V)-dipyrrin complex at room temperature, was obtained by treating an excess amount (20 eq.) of SbCl with a trianionic NO-type tetradentate dipyrrin ligand (L) under visible-light irradiation and O atmosphere. The Cl ligands in LSbCl2 were replaced by OH ligands hydrolysis, yielding LSb(OH)2.

Electrical detection of RNAs using transistor-based biosensors has attracted attention as a strategy for medical diagnosis and environmental monitoring. Herein, we demonstrated a proof-of-concept for specific, sensitive, and label-free RNA detection using a field-effect transistor (FET) biosensor with signal amplification by ternary initiation complexes (SATIC), which is an isothermal one-step nucleic acid amplification initiated by the combination of target RNA, circular DNA template and DNA primer. The SATIC system-applied FET biosensor specifically and quantitatively detected the target RNA with a single-nucleotide difference via the negative charges derived from the amplification products formed by a nucleic acid amplification reaction with φ29 DNA polymerase on the gate surface.

Purpose: Our study aimed to clarify home and social factors by gender that lead to maintenance of health in the elderly, such as taking care of others and having social activities.

Methods: A total of 14,712 and 14,799 respondents to the "Survey of Needs in the Spheres of Daily Life" conducted in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture in 2017 and 2020, respectively, who were aged 65 years or older (recovery rate was 78.5 %) were enrolled.

Article Synopsis
  • The circadian clock is a system that helps regulate biological processes in a roughly 24-hour cycle, primarily influenced by light and other environmental cues.
  • In mammals, the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) in the brain acts as the central clock, coordinating the timing of various peripheral clocks in the body for better control of behavior, metabolism, and physiology.
  • The study investigates how quickly these clocks adjust to sudden changes in the light-dark cycle, finding that arginine vasopressin pathways are crucial for maintaining clock stability both in the SCN and the anterior pituitary gland.

We demonstrate an S-shaped double-spiral microresonator (DSR) for detecting small volumes of analytes, such as liquids or gases, penetrating a microfluidic channel. Optical-ring resonators have been applied as label-free and high-sensitivity biosensors by using an evanescent field for sensing the refractive index of analytes. Enlarging the ring resonator size is a solution for amplifying the interactions between the evanescent field and biomolecules to obtain a higher refractive index sensitivity of the attached analytes.
