background: : Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) related to underlying intracranial artery dissection (IAD) poses potential risks, including the exacerbation of intramural hematoma and the rupture of the dissected arterial wall. However, the safety of IVT in this specific population remains uncertain.

aims:: This study aimed to assess whether IAD is associated with an increased risk of intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) following IVT and to evaluate its impact on functional outcomes.

Background: We performed a retrospective comparative study to clarify the optimal gallbladder drainage method prior to elective cholecystectomy.

Methods: We collected data from the Diagnosis Procedure Combination database about cholecystitis patients who underwent gallbladder drainage prior to cholecystectomy in a subsequent hospitalization between April 2014 and March 2020. We divided the study population into two groups: an endoscopic gallbladder stenting (EGBS) group and a percutaneous transhepatic gallbladder drainage (PTGBD) group.

Background Patients with hip fractures tend to have a poor prognosis. Although guideline-compliant practices are known to improve patient outcomes, there is a lack of evidence regarding the use of intervention to improve guideline adherence in hip fracture patients. The objective of our study was to evaluate guideline adherence by internists providing care to patients with hip fractures, using a protocol developed based on various guidelines.

Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted in Japan to compare in-hospital mortality rates between open aneurysm repair (OAR) and endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) for ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (rAAA) from 2018 to 2021.
  • The research involved analyzing administrative data from 482 acute care hospitals, resulting in 2650 patients in the OAR group and 2656 in the EVAR group.
  • The findings showed that in-hospital mortality was significantly lower for the EVAR group (9.4%) compared to the OAR group (11.7%), indicating that EVAR is associated with better outcomes and shorter hospital stays for rAAA patients.

Unlabelled: In Japan, the publication of the Fracture Liaison Service Clinical Standard (FLS-CS) had no apparent effect on the implementation of secondary fracture prevention, but the introduction of a new management fee for secondary fracture prevention significantly promoted the implementation of secondary fracture prevention for the target disease.

Background: Secondary fracture prevention is important for managing fragility fractures. In Japan, the FLS-CS was published in 2019, alongside the introduction of a new management fee for secondary fracture prevention, launched in 2022 for patients who underwent surgery for hip fracture.
