Carbon sequestration in deep saline aquifers is a promising strategy for reducing atmospheric CO emissions. However, salt precipitation triggered by the evaporation of formation brine into injected supercritical CO can cause injectivity and containment issues in near-wellbore regions. Predicting the distribution of precipitated salts and their impact on near-wellbore properties remains challenging.

Importance: Pediatric patients with cancer experience severely bothersome symptoms during treatment. It was hypothesized that symptom screening and provision of symptom reports to the health care team would reduce symptom burden in pediatric patients with cancer.

Objective: To determine if daily symptom screening and provision of symptom reports to the health care team was associated with lower total symptom burden as measured by the Symptom Screening in Pediatrics Tool (SSPedi) compared to usual care among pediatric patients with cancer admitted to a hospital or seen in a clinic daily for at least 5 days.

Our objective was to update a clinical practice guideline for the prevention and treatment of infection (CDI) in pediatric patients with cancer and hematopoietic cell transplantation recipients. We reconvened an international multi-disciplinary panel. A systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) for the prevention or treatment of CDI in any population was updated and identified 31 new RCTs.

Article Synopsis
  • Pain is a significant issue for young children with cancer and their families, often exacerbated by limited management options at home.
  • The study aimed to co-design a digital app by exploring parents' views on its usefulness, necessary features, and potential challenges through interviews with parents and healthcare professionals.
  • Findings indicated that participants viewed the app as a promising tool to facilitate pain management by providing real-time support and information while highlighting the need for accessible features and potential workload concerns for caregivers and clinicians.

Objectives: Primary objectives were to determine the relationship between prevalence of symptom documentation and intervention provision, and increasing severity of bothersome symptoms, as identified by guardians using guardian-reported Symptom Screening in Pediatrics Tool (proxy-SSPedi), which is validated and measures the extent of bothersome symptoms in paediatric patients with cancer.

Methods: We included guardians of children 2-7 years of age receiving cancer treatments and seen in hospital daily for 4 consecutive days. Guardians reported proxy-SSPedi at study enrolment and 3 days later.
