Article Synopsis
  • Indonesia has introduced new renewable energy tariffs to boost its energy transition, particularly focusing on biomass power plants (BPPs) but there's a lack of academic research on this topic.
  • The study evaluates BPPs' potential in helping meet Indonesia's renewable energy goals through financial and emission analyses, showing that initial tariffs lead to positive financial results while expansion tariffs require high capacity factors to be viable.
  • The findings suggest that incorporating average generation costs into tariff formulas is essential for ensuring economic sustainability and promoting the adoption of renewable energy, benefiting both the state-owned PLN and independent power producers (IPPs).

Sepsis is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in hospitals, especially in low- and middle-income countries, and represents a challenge to health care providers to carry out early detection, and accurate diagnosis and prognosis with cost-effective diagnostic tools. An observational prospective study was conducted from December 2021 to December 2022 to investigate the extended inflammatory parameters (EIPs) for sepsis management and analyze the survival of septic patients in the emergency unit, intensive care unit (ICU) and inpatient ward. Patients suspected of having sepsis underwent a sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) evaluation and had blood drawn for complete blood counts (CBCs).
