Background: Infection prevention and control (IPC) practices by critical care nurses are crucial in preventing ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) and central-line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI).

Aim: To implement an integrative approach to developing a set of IPC practices and disseminating information on the IPC practices through an educational multimedia tool to improve compliance with the practices.

Methods: This participatory interventional before-after study was conducted in a single tertiary care centre's cardiac surgical intensive care unit (ICU) from May 2022 to March 2023.

Article Synopsis
  • Extended ligand conjugation improves luminescent thermometry in Dy-based single-molecule magnets (SMMs) through crystallographic, photoluminescence, and lifetime decay studies.
  • This enhancement allows for effective energy transfer from the ligands to the Dy metal centers.
  • The results show a significant excited-state lifetime of Dy(III), indicating efficient interactions due to the ligand modifications.

Melanoma, an aggressive skin cancer originating from melanocytes, presents substantial challenges due to its high metastatic potential and resistance to conventional therapies. Hydrogels, 3D networks of hydrophilic polymers with high water-retention capacities, offer significant promise for controlled drug delivery applications. In this study, we report the synthesis and characterization of hydrogelators based on the triazine molecular scaffold, which self-assemble into fibrous networks conducive to hydrogel formation.

Purpose: Arachnoid cysts constitute approximately 1 % of intracranial mass lesions, with quadrigeminal cistern arachnoid cysts being 5-18 % of those. This study presents a series of 31 cases of quadrigeminal cistern arachnoid cysts, constituting the most extensive series reported to date.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 31 patients diagnosed with quadrigeminal cistern arachnoid cysts, focusing on clinical presentation, demographics, treatment approaches, and outcomes.
