Anti-epileptic Drugs Use and Increased Risk of Stroke: A Systematic Review.

Antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), the predominant treatment for epilepsy, are also utilised for migraine, neuropathic pain, and bipolar disorders, accounting for 1% of usage among the common population. There is a greater risk of stroke, heart attack, and arrhythmia among AED users particularly those with enzyme-inducing properties. This systematic review aimed to look into the ischemic stroke risk among AED users, particularly in patients who had never had a cerebrovascular accident before.

However, the data of its efficacy in reducing cardiovascular events in individuals without type 2 diabetes is not as robust.

Coal-derived char as new sand replacement material in cement mortars: A comprehensive experimental study.

Coal char is a coal-derived product produced by pyrolysis of char, which has valuable applications in the production of building materials. This paper presents the use of coal char in developing coal char-based cement mortar. Coal char is used to replace the sand, partially, at different proportions in cement mortar, and the change in properties is studied.

Pharmaceutical emissions on the example of the Baltic Sea catchment: comparing measurements with multi-tier predictive models.

Currently, there is uncertainty about emissions of pharmaceuticals into larger closed ecosystems that are at risk such as the Baltic Sea. There is an increasing need for selecting the right strategies on advanced wastewater treatment. This study analysed 35 pharmaceuticals and iodinated X-ray contrast media in effluents from 82 Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs) across Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden.
