-Difluorination of carbon-carbon triple bonds was conducted using Brønsted acids, such as TfNH and TfOH, combined with BuNBF as the fluorine source. The electrochemical oxidation of a BuNBF/CHCl solution containing alkyne substrates could also give the corresponding -difluorinated compounds ( method). The electrolysis method was also applicable for -difluorination of alkynes.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how the combination of platelet count and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (COP-NLR) affects the prognosis of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy combined with chemotherapy.
  • A cohort of 88 NSCLC patients was analyzed, focusing on overall survival (OS) and treatment response based on COP-NLR scores measured three weeks after starting therapy.
  • Findings reveal that lower baseline COP-NLR scores, as well as better Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group Performance Status (ECOG PS) and fewer distant metastatic sites, correlate with improved treatment responses and longer overall survival in these patients.

Article Synopsis
  • A study aimed to identify what motivates individuals to receive COVID-19 booster vaccines through a paper-based questionnaire at Keio University, involving 1725 participants who had received their initial vaccinations in 2021.
  • The main motivators for getting vaccinated included fear of severe illness from COVID-19 (72.6%), concern about infecting others (68.4%), and fear of infection itself (68.3%).
  • Television was found to be the most influential source of vaccination information, while trust in vaccine efficacy and safety was linked to participants' willingness to get booster shots, regardless of reported adverse events experienced.

Background: Catheter ablation (CA) benefits atrial fibrillation (AF) patients with heart failure (HF). Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), a marker of left-ventricular pressure load, may serve as a potential surrogate for predicting quality of life (QOL) in a broader range of patients.

Methods: Within the multicenter KiCS-AF registry, 491 AF patients underwent CA without clinical HF (e.

Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are environmental bacteria resistant to many common disinfectants and ultraviolet radiation. Inhalation of aerosols generated from NTM-containing water and soil causes NTM lung disease, especially in people with underlying lung diseases and decreased immunity. To prevent healthcare-acquired NTM infections, it is important to eradicate NTM living in hospital environments.
