Importance: In-home therapy provides the opportunity for rehabilitation intervention to be completed in the context of the patient's natural environment. However, most studies have focused on the effects of physical exercise, leaving a gap in understanding the effectiveness of a more task-oriented intervention that addresses individual preferences.
Objective: To assess the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of the Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational PerformanceTM (CO-OP) approach, delivered at home with older adults after a hip fracture to improve functional outcomes.
Background: Most surviving hip-fracture patients experience reduced mobility and lose some of their functional ability, which increases the risk of complications and rehospitalization. Post-discharge transitional programs to reduce readmissions and disabilities have shown some success. Telerehabilitation refers to the use of technologies to provide rehabilitation services to people in their homes.

Sixty women aged ≥65 years after an operation due to a hip fracture, half with non-impaired cognition (average Mini Mental State Examination 27) and half with mild cognitive impairment (average Mini Mental State Examination 21) were examined and interviewed at admission to a rehabilitation hospital in Israel and 1 month after discharge with the following measures: Functional Independence Measure, Geriatric Depression Scale, Israeli Adults Assessment of Participation and questionnaire and 12-item short-form health status survey questionnaire. The average age was 83 years (SD = 6.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA fundamental problem in human health is the inference of disease-causing genes, with important applications to diagnosis and treatment. Previous work in this direction relied on knowledge of multiple loci associated with the disease, or causal genes for similar diseases, which limited its applicability. Here we present a new approach to causal gene prediction that is based on integrating protein-protein interaction network data with gene expression data under a condition of interest.
