This study investigated whether intravenous administration of tumor cells killed by photodynamic therapy (PDT) with 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) had antitumor effects on distal tumors. Furthermore, a novel extracorporeal blood circulating 5-ALA/PDT system was developed. 5-ALA/PDT- (low or high irradiation) or anticancer drug-treated cells were intravenously administered to rats in a glioma cancer model.

In every hospital in Japan, until 2022, the primary treatment for preventing delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) involved a combination of ozagrel sodium (Oz), fasudil hydrochloride (Fs), cilostazol, and statins. However, with the approval of clazosentan in January 2022, it has been used as a first-choice drug more frequently. Despite this shift, limited evidence exists regarding the use of clazosentan as the first choice for DCI prevention.

Introduction: This study aimed to clarify the validity of laparoscopic surgery for lower gastrointestinal perforation by comparing the clinical outcomes of laparoscopic and open emergency surgery.

Methods: We reviewed the data of patients who underwent surgery for lower gastrointestinal perforation. Patients were categorized into two groups: the laparoscopic group who underwent laparoscopic surgery, and the open group who underwent laparotomy.

Circadian rhythm plays an important role in intestinal homeostasis and intestinal immune function. Circadian rhythm dysregulation was reported to induce intestinal microbiota dysbiosis, intestinal barrier disruption, and trigger intestinal inflammation. However, the relationship between intestinal microbiota metabolites and the circadian rhythm of the intestinal barrier was still unclear.
