IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a systemic, immune-mediated, fibroinflammatory disorder that affects multiple organs. Histopathologically, the supportive findings of IgG4-RD include dense lymphocytic infiltrates, obliterative phlebitis, storiform fibrosis, and elevated numbers of IgG4-positive plasma cells. However, the presence of granulomatous inflammation is generally considered highly atypical, suggesting alternative diagnoses such as sarcoidosis and lymphoma.

In this retrospective case series, we investigated factors associated with posterior capsule aperture (PCA) reclosure following neodymium-yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser posterior capsulotomy. The study encompassed patients who underwent cataract surgery with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation or a combined vitrectomy, cataract surgery, and IOL implantation between 2009 and 2022. PCA reclosure was observed in 22 eyes of 17 patients: 45% (10 eyes) underwent the triple procedure, and 55% (12 eyes) received cataract surgery with IOL implantation.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to investigate the link between the presence of torque teno virus (TTV) in the aqueous humor of uveitis patients and their medical history, particularly regarding immunodeficiency.
  • Conducted as a multicenter, retrospective study, it included 58 uveitis patients and 24 control subjects, utilizing genetic testing methods to detect TTV and other pathogens.
  • Results showed that ocular TTV was present in a significant percentage of uveitis patients, especially those with cytomegalovirus retinitis, and found a correlation between ocular TTV positivity and a clinical history of systemic immunodeficiency.
