Blast-Overpressure Induced Modulation of PARP-SIRT-NRF2 Axis in Stress Signaling of Astrocytes and Microglia.

Background: The pathomechanism of blast traumatic brain injury (TBI) and blunt TBI is different. In blast injury, evidence indicates that a single blast exposure can often manifest long-term neurological impairments. However, its pathomechanism is still elusive, and treatments have been symptomatic.

Knock-out mouse models and single particle ICP-MS reveal that SP-D and SP-A deficiency reduces agglomeration of inhaled gold nanoparticles in vivo without significant changes to overall lung clearance.

The role of surfactant proteins A and D (SP-A and SP-D) in lung clearance and translocation to secondary organs of inhaled nanoparticles was investigated by exposing SP-A and SP-D knockout (AKO and DKO) and wild type (WT) mice nose-only for 3 hours to an aerosol of 20 nm gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). Animals were euthanised at 0-, 1-, 7- and 28-days post-exposure. Analysis by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) of the liver and kidneys showed that extrapulmonary translocation was below the limits of detection.

Interrupted borrowing hydrogen strategy enabled aminomethylation and direct cross-dehydrogenative coupling strategy enabled dicarbonylation reactions of imidazo[1,5-]pyridines.

Herein, we disclose the development of novel aminomethylation and dicarbonylation reactions of imidazo[1,5-]pyridines. The developed aminomethylation strategy involves a Pd-catalyzed interrupted borrowing hydrogen strategy by utilizing MeOH as the methylene source. A wide variety of imidazo[1,5-]pyridines and secondary amines were explored for the developed strategy.

Isolated subsegmental pulmonary embolism identification based on international classification of diseases (ICD)-10 codes and imaging reports.

Background: Isolated subsegmental pulmonary embolism (issPE) is a commonly encountered diagnosis. Although the International Classification of Diseases (ICD)-10 codes are used for research, their validity for identifying issPE is unknown. Moreover, issPE diagnosis is challenging, and the findings from radiology reports may conflict with those from expert radiologists.
