Multi-Informant Universal Mental Health Screening for Preschool-Aged Children by Parents and Educators: A PRISMA Systematic Review.

Children develop rapidly in the preschool period, making accurate appraisals of mental health (MH) difficult. The preschool years are a key period for early identification of MH concerns and could benefit from multi-informant, universal MH screening (UMHS). This systematic review aimed to identify multi-informant UMHS measures for preschool-aged children, and to examine their clinical utility, effectiveness, and acceptability.

Childhood represents a critical window for the emergence and treatment of mental health disorders, yet many are not being identified, or are identified too late to receive adequate intervention. This systematic review (Prospero registration: CRD42022299560) aimed to determine the effectiveness and acceptability of parent reported universal mental health screening (UMHS) to improve the early identification of children at-risk of mental health difficulties, and to identify barriers and enablers that may influence parental engagement. Six databases were searched in February 2022 for peer-reviewed, primary research.

Standardized Discharge Planning Tool Leads to Earlier Discharges and Fewer Readmissions.

Background: In an inpatient setting, aspects of discharge planning are often left to the provider's memory, leading to errors, inefficiencies, and avoidable costs.

Methods: A multidisciplinary team of oncology practitioners used process improvement methodologies to redesign the discharge planning process.

Interventions: The primary intervention was an evidence-based discharge planning tool, called the discharge navigator, used from admission through discharge.
