Salidroside is a phenylpropanoid glycoside with wide applications in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries; however, the plant genus Rhodiola, the natural source of salidroside, has slow growth and limited distribution. In this study, we designed a novel six-enzyme biocatalytic cascade for the efficient production of salidroside, utilizing cost-effective bio-based L-Tyrosine as the starting material. A preliminary analysis revealed that the poor thermostability of the Bacillus licheniformis UDP-glycosyltransferase (EC 2.

This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the association between DM and tinnitus by systematically reviewing and synthesizing data from observational studies. A comprehensive literature search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science up to August 16, 2024.

Our results show that subtle differences in molecular structure can lead to distinct surface alignments and topological defects. The ionic surfactant induces a planar alignment, with two -1/2 line defects adhering to the cylindrical bubble surface.

While two-dimensional echocardiography (2DE) is widely accessible and used, it requires specialized training, is prone to inter-observer variability, and lacks comprehensive three-dimensional (3D) information. We introduce CardiacField, a computational echocardiography system using a 2DE probe for precise, automated left ventricular (LV) and right ventricular (RV) ejection fraction (EF) estimations, which is especially easy to use for non-cardiovascular healthcare practitioners.

Methods: We followed 350,608 Korean patients with liver disease who underwent routine health examinations from 2003-2006 until December 2018 via national hospital discharge records. Multivariable adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) per 5-kg/m2 BMI increase (BMI ≥25 kg/m2) for HCC risk were calculated using Cox models.
