Problem: It is unknown whether the deployment of registered nurses to assist midwives in the provision of postnatal care eases the burden of workforce shortages.
Background: The largest public maternity health service in Western Australia began employing registered nurses in 2022 to assist midwives with the provision of postnatal care on maternity wards in response to staffing shortages, exacerbated by COVID-19.
Aim: To explore midwives' and registered nurses' experiences of providing postnatal care on maternity wards together.
Background: Guidelines for randomised controlled trials (RCTs) recommend reporting relative and absolute measures of effect for binary outcomes while adjusting for covariates. There are a number of different ways covariate-adjusted relative risks and risk differences can be estimated.
Objectives: Our goal was to identify methods used to estimate covariate-adjusted relative risk and risk differences in RCTs published in high-impact journals with binary outcomes.
Background: There are numerous approaches available to analyse data from cluster randomised trials. These include cluster-level summary methods and individual-level methods accounting for clustering, such as generalised estimating equations and generalised linear mixed models. There has been much methodological work showing that estimates of treatment effects can vary depending on the choice of approach, particularly when estimating odds ratios, essentially because the different approaches target different estimands.

Seventy-five percent of these cases occur in Sub-Saharan Africa, an increasing number of which are from multi-drug resistant strains. Interactions between bacteria and platelets can lead to thrombus formation, which can be beneficial for control of infection (immunothrombosis), or harmful through uncontrolled inflammation and organ damage (thromboinflammation).
