The rising concern over heavy metals (HMs) and microplastics (MPs) pollution in marine ecosystems, primarily driven by anthropogenic activities, poses significant threats to ecological health. Understanding the combined exposure of HMs and MPs aids in toxicity assessment. In this study, we examined the combined effects of polystyrene microplastics (MPs) and iron (Fe) on oxidative stress, bioaccumulation, histopathology, and genotoxicity in Namalycastis jaya.

Fingertip friction is a key component of tactile perception. In active tactile exploration, friction forces depend on the applied normal force and on the sliding speed chosen. We have investigated whether humans perceive the speed dependence of friction for textured surfaces of materials, which show either increase or decrease of the friction coefficient with speed.

Aim: The aim of this study was to study the progression of diabetic retinopathy (DR) and macular edema in uncomplicated phacoemulsification in patients with diabetes mellitus with a follow-up of 6 months.

Methods: A prospective, nonrandomized study was conducted on patients with established or no DR in a known case of diabetes mellitus undergoing cataract surgery by phacoemulsification, with no intraoperative complications. Detailed ophthalmic evaluation including fundus examination was done in all cases, and DR staging was done.

Microplastic contamination in marine ecosystems, and its negative effects through trophic transfer among marine organisms, remains a growing concern. Our study investigates the trophic transfer and individual impacts of polystyrene microplastics (MPs) in an estuarine food chain model, comprising Artemia salina as primary organism, Litopenaeus vanamei as secondary organism, and Oreochromis niloticus as tertiary organism. A.

Purpose: Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness worldwide, affecting more than 64 million people aged 40-80. The best way to manage primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) is by lowering the intraocular pressure (IOP). Netarsudil is a Rho kinase inhibitor, the only class of antiglaucoma medications that reorganizes the extracellular matrix to improve the aqueous outflow through the trabecular pathway.
