Study Objectives: To evaluate efficacy of vibrotactile positional therapy (PT) compared to standard CPAP therapy in mild-to-moderate positional obstructive sleep apnea (pOSA).

Methods: Prospective crossover randomized controlled trial of adult patients with treatment-naïve, symptomatic, mild-to-moderate pOSA - defined as ≥5 total apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) <30 with supine-to-non-supine (s:ns)AHI ratio ≥2. Participants were randomized to in-laboratory treatment initiation polysomnography with either PT or CPAP on sequential nights before an eight-week trial of each therapy.

Article Synopsis
  • The text outlines a program aimed at improving leukemia diagnosis in Vietnam through virtual collaborations between local pathologists and experienced hematopathologists in the U.S., addressing issues like a lack of training and costly slide digitization.
  • Over a two-year period, 135 consultations were conducted, leading to accurate diagnoses, including the first documented cases of T-cell large granular lymphocytic leukemia (T-LGLL) in Vietnam, confirmed with a 100% concordance through in-person review.
  • The program demonstrates a successful model for remote education and consultation that could benefit other underserved regions, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and patient care in hematopathology.

Objectives: This study aimed to characterize feeding/swallowing difficulties in children with esophageal atresia and/or tracheoesophageal fistula (EA/TEF) and evaluate associations among feeding difficulties, pharyngeal dysphagia (PD), and other aerodigestive evaluation findings.

Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of feeding/swallowing characteristics of 44 patients with EA/TEF treated in the aerodigestive program of a single academic medical institution from 2010 to 2015. Demographics, comorbidities, presence and characteristics of feeding/swallowing difficulties, and results of relevant diagnostic tests [videofluoroscopic swallow studies (VFSS), clinical feeding evaluations (CFEs), chest computerized tomography (CT) scans, pulmonary bronchoscopies, and upper GI (UGI)/esophagrams] were reviewed.

Background: Few studies demonstrate delayed recovery after exercise in children and adults with heart disease. We assess the recovery patterns of gas exchange parameters and heart rate (HR) in children with repaired Tetralogy of Fallot (rToF) compared to healthy peers and investigate the correlation with ventricular function and QRS duration.

Methods: 45 children after rToF and 45 controls performed a maximal incremental cardiopulmonary exercise test.

Background: Progesterone Receptor Membrane Component 1 (PGRMC1) is expressed in many cancer cells, where it is associated with detrimental patient outcomes. It contains phosphorylated tyrosines which evolutionarily preceded deuterostome gastrulation and tissue differentiation mechanisms.

Results: We demonstrate that manipulating PGRMC1 phosphorylation status in MIA PaCa-2 (MP) cells imposes broad pleiotropic effects.
