Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) represents a complication of pregnancy occurring in 1%-3% of all couples trying to conceive. About 50%-60% of RPL cases remain idiopathic, therefore therapeutic strategies seem empirical and based on unproven evidence. We investigated the efficacy of corticosteroids in women with RPL.

Vacuoleless Gametophytes (VLG) is a DC1 domain protein that was initially characterized as essential for early female and male gametophytes development in Arabidopsis. However, VLG expression was also detected in stamens, pistils and other sporophytic tissues, implying a broader role for this protein. As homozygous insertional VLG lines resulted unviable, we generated Arabidopsis amiRNA VLG knock-down plants to study the role of VLG in sporophyte development.

Article Synopsis
  • Advanced hybrid closed loop (AHCL) systems are the latest insulin therapy for adults with type 1 diabetes, aiming to assess their effectiveness during nighttime hours.
  • A study of 55 adults evaluated three AHCL systems (Minimed 780G, Tandem t:slim X2 with Control-IQ, and DBLG1) based on continuous glucose monitoring over 14 nights.
  • All systems met glycemic targets, but the Tandem t:slim X2 with Control-IQ system achieved a significantly higher percentage of time in range (TIR), suggesting better overall performance.

Hypothyroidism is typically treated with levothyroxine monotherapy. However, despite normalized serum thyroid-stimulating hormone levels, 5-10% of patients continue to experience persistent symptoms, raising concerns about the adequacy of thyroxine monotherapy. Combination therapy with levothyroxine and liothyronine has been proposed as an alternative, but it presents practical challenges, including dosing complexity, the short half-life of triiodothyronine, increased monitoring requirements, and potential adverse effects.
