Exploring Biomarkers of Systemic Oxidative Stress and Placental Insufficiency in Pregnant Women with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.

Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) often presents during the fertile age and may affect pregnancy outcomes. Both IBD and selected pregnancy complications involve oxidative stress. Soluble FMS-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1) and placental growth factor (PlGF) serve as biomarkers of placental insufficiency, while free thiols (FT) reflect systemic oxidative stress.

Implementation of blood pressure telemonitoring in high-risk pregnancies; a multicenter quantitative analysis of patient experiences in the SAFE@home study.

Objective: This study evaluates patient experiences with the SAFE@home platform for telemonitoring of blood pressure (BP) and symptom tracking in patients high-risk pregnancies. We hypothesized patients would perceive telemonitoring as usable and patient-centered and aimed to identify barriers and facilitators to aid future digital health scale-up.

Methods: A quantitative analysis within a cohort study across 11 hospitals was conducted.

Objectives: To identify patterns in changes of blood pressure for women with gestational hypertension (GH) or non-severe pre-eclampsia (PE) beyond 36 gestational weeks, and assess their association with a composite adverse maternal outcome.

Study Design: Secondary analysis of a randomized controlled trial (HYPITAT).

Main Outcome Measures: We investigated patterns of one-week blood pressure changes post-admission, explored factors contributing to diverse patterns using ANOVA and Chi-square tests, and assessed the correlation between these patterns and a composite adverse maternal outcome defined as severe maternal morbidity, mortality, post-partum hemorrhage and cesarean section.

Cardiovascular risk management after hypertensive disorders and diabetes during pregnancy, in a multi-ethnic population: A qualitative study among women and healthcare providers.

Background: Pregnancy complications like gestational diabetes and hypertensive disorders increase maternal cardiovascular risk. However, evidence on how to best implement cardiovascular risk management (CVRM) in multi-ethnic contexts remains limited. Existing studies primarily focus on white populations, despite disparities in CVD risk and the risk of pregnancy complications across ethnic groups.

Placental pathology is associated with lower quality fidgety movements in preterm infants.

Background: Preterm infants are at risk for neurodevelopmental disabilities later in life, like motor delays and cerebral palsy (CP). The placenta plays a critical role throughout pregnancy, particularly in preterm birth. Our aim is to explore the relation between placental lesions and accurate predictors of neurodevelopmental outcomes in preterm infants.
