Prevalence of and risk factors for osteoporosis and fragility fracture in adults with cerebral palsy: A systematic review.

Aim: To systematically review the prevalence and incidence of osteoporosis, osteopenia, low bone mass, and fragility fracture in adults with cerebral palsy (CP), and identify the risk factors for osteoporosis and fracture.

Method: A systematic literature search was performed in the MEDLINE, PubMed, CINAHL, AMED, Cochrane Reviews, EMBASE, and EBM database reviews from inception until May 2024. Search terms covered a combination of keywords for CP, fracture, osteoporosis, incidence and prevalence, and risk factors.

Human trafficking in the health care setting: recommendations for the physical medicine and rehabilitation provider.

Purpose: This study aims to provide trauma informed recommendations for screening and discusses responsibilities of the physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) provider for responding and advocating for patients experiencing human trafficking.

Materials & Methods: Existing literature relating to human trafficking across rehabilitation settings was reviewed. In addition, two cases of human trafficking in the rehabilitation setting are presented, including a confirmed case of human trafficking in an adult and a suspected case of human trafficking in a child.

Aminopenicillins for treatment of ampicillin-resistant enterococcal urinary tract infections.

Purpose: The purpose of this review is to describe the theory behind and data supporting use of aminopenicillins in the treatment of ampicillin-resistant enterococcal urinary tract infections.

Summary: Aminopenicillin concentrations in the urine may be high enough to achieve bacterial eradication and clinical cure for infections affecting the lower genitourinary tract, even in the context of in vitro resistance based on established susceptibility breakpoints. A literature search was conducted to identify original research articles describing the use of aminopenicillins in the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by ampicillin-resistant Enterococcus species.

Pharmacist documentation of gaps in care identified during diabetes coaching.

Objectives: 1) To identify the number of gaps, type of gaps, and contributing factors to gaps in diabetes care reported by pharmacists in the Diabetes Gaps in Care Portal (Gaps Portal). 2) To understand how pharmacists used the Gaps Portal and the implications for quality diabetes care.

Design: The Alliance for Patient Medication Safety developed an online Gaps Portal as a tool for pharmacists to identify and document gaps in care when managing patients with diabetes.
