Characterizing Patient Perceptions of Living with Geographic Atrophy: The Global Geographic Atrophy Insights Survey.

Background: Geographic atrophy (GA) is an advanced form of age-related macular degeneration leading to irreversible vision loss and negative impacts on quality of life.

Methods: To assess the experiences of living with GA, the Geographic Atrophy Insights Survey (GAINS) was conducted between October 12, 2021, and December 10, 2021, captured the responses of individuals ≥60 years with a self-reported GA diagnosis residing in the United States, Canada, Australia, and six European countries. Survey questions focused on the perceptions of individuals living with GA and covered six themes: speed of disease progression, effect on independence, impact on quality of life, emotional toll of GA, misconceptions and need for further education about GA, and clinician interactions.

Background: Diabetic retinopathy (DR), a leading cause of vision loss worldwide, is a common complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) driven by chronic hyperglycemia and microvascular damage. Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) is crucial in blood sugar regulation and has been linked to DR incidence and severity. While some studies suggest that FGF21 levels may contribute to the DR incidence, others propose a protective role.

Implementation outcomes of convergence action policy to accelerate stunting reduction in Pidie district, Aceh province, Indonesia: a qualitative study.

Objectives: The research aims to understand the challenges and opportunities in policy and programme convergence to accelerate interventions for reducing stunting at the district, subdistrict and the 10 focused villages.

Design: Data were collected through qualitative methods (in-depth interviews and document reviews), and then analysed using thematic processes with NVivo V.11 software, by QSR International The process included coding, categorising and linking to the eight implementation outcome variables (as determined themes), namely acceptability, adoption, appropriateness, feasibility, compliance, implementation cost, coverage and sustainability.

Technological Innovation in International Training and Advancing Health Services: Two Cases During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Beginning in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic limited onsite international activities and challenged us to plan and implement new ways of collaboration. We reviewed our online trials during a three-year period to better understand how to use digital technologies to continue knowledge and skills transfer. In this cross-national case study, we compare two illustrative cases: Japanese experts training Indonesian health professionals for participatory school health education, and Swiss experts training Malagasy health providers for respectful obstetric and newborn emergencies.
