The purpose of this study is to examine the pregestational BMI value that results in insulin use in Japanese patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and to assess whether the type of GDM treatment affects postpartum glucose tolerance. This retrospective study included 21 GDM patients treated until parturition at our department from 2013 to 2017. We calculated the pregestational BMI related to insulin treatment and the significant elevation in homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) by receiver operating characteristics curve (ROC) analysis.

Background: Contextual memory loss of emotional events plays a critical role in depression psychopathology. Individuals with depression, clinical or subclinical, exhibit enhanced and impaired memory for emotionally negative stimuli and context in an event, respectively. This suggests that contextual encoding may fail because of attentional interference caused by concurrent negative stimuli, possibly leading to contextual memory loss as a depression risk.

Cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) irradiation exhibits a sterilizing effect without causing thermal denaturation or leaving behind residual toxicants. CAP also has potential applications in various fields, including agriculture, leading to research efforts in recent years. This study investigated the effects of CAP on the seed germination rate of spinach (Spinacia oleracea), which typically has a low seed germination rate.
