The objective of the present study was to determine the size of the vocal folds in the children during the first several years of life. The study included 137 children at the age from the birth up to 3 years who were referred to our clinic for the pre-planned surgical intervention with the use of endotracheal intubation. The length and the width of the vocal folds from the muscle tubercle to the anterior commissure in abduction were measured using a probe specially designed and adapted for this purpose.

The objective of the present work was to study voice disturbances in young children with gastroesophageal reflux disease. Diagnostic algorithm included direct transnasal examination of the larynx using an Olympus fibroscope (Japan), fibrogastroduodenoscopy, 24-hour potentiometry, biopsy of oesophageal mucosa, and acoustic analysis of the voice. A total of 26 children at the age from 8 months to 3 years with voice disturbances were examined, including 12 children below one year, 5 between 1 and 2 years, and 9 between 2 and 3 years.

The treatment was made of 15 children aged 3-6 months with advanced hemangiomatosis of the head, face, neck and larynx. The treatment combined hormone therapy, sclerotherapy of the tumor, staged cryodestruction of the external and endolaryngeal nodes. In one case the arterial occlusion was performed.
