The efficiency of in vitro translation of potato virus X (PVX) RNA within vRNP complexes assembled from genomic RNA and viral CP was examined. The vRNP particles contain the 5'-proximal RNA segments encapsidated by helically arranged CP head-like portions heterogeneous in length and the CP-free RNA tail. Translation of RNA is completely repressed upon incubation with PVX CP and is accompanied by vRNP particles production.

It was shown that involvement of memory mechanisms resulted in the alpha rhythm suppression in both occipital and frontal brain areas. It was also accompanied by a generation of the slow positive component in the evoked potential recorded in the frontal areas (in the occipital areas this wave was manifested as negative).

For objective evaluation, different techniques of extracorporeal detoxication were performed under dynamic control over the level of some homeostasis parameters. It has been established that the most marked changes were associated with the signs of colloid-osmotic condition and the following development of hyperosmolar syndrome.

The examination findings showed that plasma osmolality is an integral index of endogenous intoxication which objectively reflects the gravity of the general condition of patients and requires adequate correction. The osmolality gap was measured by the difference between the measured and calculated osmolalities; its stable two- or threefold increase was found to be the most unfavourable factor in the disease course and prognosis.
